The 2 point conversion was no good, and the Dogs would lead 12-0. Hartsville would get on the board in the 2nd quarter at the 6:10 mark off of a 40-yard run by Dre Scott. The PAT was good and the lead for Camden was 12-7. Then just before the break with 43 seconds remaining, Council would connect with Jonathan Marshall from 17 yards out, capping a 14 play, 80 yard drive. The 2 point conversion was no good, and Camden would go into the locker room leading 18 to 7.

Then in the 4th quarter Camden put their final touchdown on the board at the 9:18 mark as SaVonn Wingate found his way into the endzone. Wingate then took the ball up the middle for the 2- point conversion, and the Dogs stretched their lead 26-7. Hartsville scored again in the 4th off a 3 yard run by Ronnie Jackson. The PAT was good and the new score was 26-14. Camden was then able to hold on to the ball and run out the clock, securing a win in the oldest high school football rivalry in South Carolina.

For his efforts on the night, quarterback Josh Council was awarded the Sports Connection Player of the Game. Council finished 6 of 14 for 107 yards and 3 touchdowns passing and also ran the ball 21 times for 106 yards.

On Friday night the Camden Bulldogs made the trip to Lugoff-Elgin Stadium to take on the Demons in the 29th renewal of the Battle of the Wateree River. After battling back to cut the lead to 7 in the 4th quarter, the Demons proved to be too much as they pulled out a 21-7 victory; their third consecutive win in the series that dates back to 1978.

Lugoff got on the board on the first play from scrimmage of the game as Forrest Koumas connected with Julian Baxter from 38 yards out. The point after by Grayson Quick was good, and the Demons led 7-0 with 11:38 to play in the first quarter. Then later in the first, Devonte Alexander intercepted a Brandon Kersey pass and returned in 22 yards for a touchdown, and following the PAT, the Demons led 14-0. However Lugoff would put the game away on the ensuing drive as they marched 53 yards in 6 plays and after a 1-yard run by Forrest Koumas and Grayson Quick PAT, the Demons would stretch the lead 21-7. The Dogs had one last chance to make a comeback, but another interception would seal the deal for Lugoff. Despite losing 3 in a row, Camden still leads the series 24-5.

On Friday night it was Homecoming 2008 for the Camden Bulldogs as they hosted the Darlington Falcons in a matchup in Region 6 of AAA. In a steady rain storm, the Dogs pulled out a 9-3 victory in overtime.

No scoring whatsoever in the first half of this one. Camden only had 32 yards of offense in the first half, compared to just 7 total net yards for the Falcons.  The scoring finally started mid-way through the 3rd at the 5:25 mark as Addison Harrelson connected on a 22 yard field goal, his second of the season.  That drive was 6 plays for 58 yards and took 2:43 off the clock. The bulk of that drive a 43 yard rush by SaVonn Wingate. At the end of the third, the Dogs led by 3.

Darlington would score at the 10:22 mark of the 4th quarter on a 45 yard field goal by Ray Early that got over the cross bar by just a couple of feet. At that point we had a tie ballgame 3-3.  After an exchange of possessions, Darlington got the ball back on a Brandon Kersey interception. They drove for 4 plays and it setup a 42 yard field goal by Early. The kick was short and the Dogs took back over with 47 seconds to play, running one play and running the clock down to double zeros. So at the end of regulation, the score was tied 3-3.

Camden got the ball to start overtime and marched down to the 1 foot line on the first three plays. After a timeout, Jimmy Neal decided it would be the SUV, Chris Outten, who would get the ball and he muscled his way into the endzone for the score. The PAT by Harrelson hit the left upright and was no good.

At that point it would be Darlington’s turn in overtime. They drove the ball to the 2 and took their timeout. On 4th and goal from the 2, Dominique Cooper got the ball and was stopped at the one by the Camden Defense and the Dogs would hold on for a 9-3 Homecoming victory.

SaVonn Wingate finished the night with 169 yards on 33 carries. Chris Outten on 2 carries had 3 yards. The one yard run to get the winning touchdown would secure the Sports Connection Player of the Game for Outten.

Camden improves to 4-4 on the season and 1-1 in region play. The next game for the Dogs will be on the road next Friday as they travel to Sumter to take on the Lakewood Gators. Kickoff in that one will be at 7:30, airtime on StarTime 1590 and kool1027.com is at 6:30.

On Friday night the Camden Bulldogs made their second trip of the year down Highway 521 to Sumter County, this time to take on the Lakewood Gators. And despite a wet and rainy field to play on, the Dogs came away with a 26-14 victory.

The scoring got started early in this one for the Dogs as at the 10 minute mark to play in the first quarter, Chris Outten muscled his way into the endzone from 2 yards out. The PAT by Addison Harrelson was wide right, and just 2 minutes into the ballgame, Camden led 6-0. That scoring drive was set up after Lakewood's punter mishandled a snap deep in their own territory. Camden's next score came in the 2nd again on a 2-yard run by Outten. SaVonn Wingate dove into the endzone for the 2-point conversion, and with 11:08 to play in the 2nd quarter, Camden led 14-0. That was a 13-play, 72 yard drive.

Camden would find the endzone for the 3rd time of the night on an 11-yard run by Wingate. The 2 point try failed and Camden led 20-0. That was a 14-play, 79 yard drive. Camden's final score of the night came with 1:03 to play in the 1st half when Wingate again found the endzone from 1 yard out. The 2-point play was no good, and the Dogs took a 26-0 lead into the locker room. At the break, Camden had 158 total yards of offense, 90 yards came on 23 carries by Wingate. Camden's defense limited Crestwood to just 13 net yards and only 2 first downs.

In the 2nd half the good news was the rain stopped, the bad news Camden gave up 2 scores, both to Lakewood's star running back John Walker. On Friday night the Camden Bulldogs welcomed the Marlboro County Bulldogs to Zemp Stadium for the final regular season matchup of the season. On the line was second place in Region 6 of 3-A and a home playoff game next week. The Marlboro County Bulldogs held a slight 10-0 lead at halftime but came away with a 24-6 victory.

After a series of possession changes, Camden finally got on the board at the 3:33 mark of the 3rd quarter on a 9 yard run by Josh Council. In that drive, Council connected with Jonathan Marshall for 21 yards, the longest pass of the night. The PAT by Harrelson was blocked, and at that point it was 10-6 in favor of Marlboro County.
