Jimmy Neal

Athletic Director and Head Football Coach

Jimmy Neal is in his 14th season at the helm of the Camden High School football program, with an overall record of 111-58, four conference titles, two Lower State titles, and the 2001 AAA State Championship under his belt.

Neal reached the pinnacle of coaching success in 2001 by leading the Bulldogs to a 15-0 record and the school's 7th State Championship. The Bulldogs defeated Union 24-21 in overtime to take home the trophy.

In 2002, the Dogs returned to the state championship game after going on the road to defeat Dillon 42-7 for the Lower State title.  By winning 13 games in 2002 Neal became the first Camden football coach ever to win 10 or more games in 4 straight seasons.

His 2003 team lost 17 starters from the previous season and still posted a 9-4 mark, reaching the Lower State semifinals for the 4th straight year.

Neal led the Dogs to 8 and 7 wins respectively in 2004 and 2005.

In 2006, Neal served as an assistant coach on the North squad at the annual North-South All-star football game held in Myrtle Beach.

By winning the 2001 State championship, Neal joined CHS legends Wallace 'Red' Lynch and Billy Ammons as the third former player to coach his school to an unbeaten season and a state championship.  In 2009, Neal took the Bulldogs back to the post-season for the 10th time in 12 seasons and also became just the 4th CHS head coach to earn 100 victories at CHS.

A 1974 CHS graduate, Neal played and later coached at Furman University.  He coached the defensive line on the Paladins' 1988 I-AA National Championship team.  Neal coached at Furman for 12 years before before coming home to Camden in 1998.

Neal is married to the former Nancy Wise of Trenton, SC, who is also the Assistant Director of Bands. They have two children, Callie, a 2009 CHS graduate and Zack, a 2011 CHS graduate.
