Camden, S.C. - Friday night at Zemp
Stadium the Camden Bulldogs rebounded after a tough opening game
loss a week ago to defeat the North Central Knights 57-14 in a game
that was marred with penalties, but highlighted by scores from
younger CHS players.
The Bulldogs scored three touchdowns in the
first quarter, all of them courtesy of Josh Council. He completed
passes to Glenn Quattlebaum and Jo Jo Brevard. Council also ran for
another score from 19 yards out. Second quarter the second team
players took to the field for Camden but not before the senior
Council added another touchdown toss to Tim Dinkins. The passes to
Brevard and Dinkins were both their first career Touchdown grabs.
Jeffrey Belton, Brandon Louden, Fidel Wise, and
Cedrick Malone all had touchdown runs as well on the night, and
Jacob Ansley connected on a 29-yard field goal in the second
quarter. For Louden, Wise, and Malone it was their first career
touchdown runs, and also the first field goal by sophomore kicker
Ansley.
North Central scored twice in the second half.
The first an 8-yard pass from Coty Putrell to Tevin Alexander and
then another 3-yard run by Putrel with 3 minutes remaining in the
ballgame.
Penalties a big factor in this one. North
Central penalized 7 times, but Camden unofficially penalized 17
times for nearly 200 yards. Camden had over 470 yards of offense on
the night.
Shaleik Lewis and Tayler Workman both recorded
their first career interceptions in the game, with Workman picking
off two Knights passes.
